Pay Offer

Message from Mark Sanderson, Unite Regional Officer:

On Thursday 6th May, we met with management to discuss the pay rise for this year and the pay claim we submitted.

The offer Thirteen brought to the table falls far short of the offer that you, our members told us you felt was deserved, the 3% we asked for.

Thirteen’s pay proposal is as follows:

  • A £250 added to the salary spread over the year. This is £250 is consolidated into the salary. This will be different for people on different salaries. For example if you earn £24’000 it will be 1%, if you earn £31’000 it will be 0.8%

  • A £250 lump sum (taxable) as a thank you for support during the first lockdown, this is only payable to colleagues who were employed at Thirteen before 1st October 2020.

  • Apprentices will get £125 added to the salary spread over the year, with a £250 lump sum as a thank you for support during the first lockdown, this element is only payable to apprentices employed at Thirteen before 1st October 2020.

  • Entry level posts (the lowest paid jobs) will have an increase to their rate of pay that ensures it is in line with with the living wage rate of £9.50 per hour (to avoid confusion this is the 2.2% increase outlined in Thirteen’s offer)

  • 1% uplift to non-HMRC allowances would be applied to the following allowances and payments: Sleepover, First Aid, Fire Warden, Standby/telephone response daily rates and the rate per call-out (for the first hour). It would not be applied to mileage rates which are set by HMRC.

Management informed us that after one meeting this was their full and final offer. We feel they haven’t engaged in full negotiations with us.

The RPI (Retail Prices Index) is a measure of inflation and the current RPI is 1.5%. Any offer by an employer less than RPI is a wage loss in real terms.

We will be in touch to ballot you on whether you would like to accept this offer or not and also with more information in the coming days.

The ballot will be delivered through the post so please ensure we have your address and up to date contact details.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us.
